Wow ... we made it.
It's past 7 p.m. on 6/6/6 and the apocalypse hasn't started yet. Well, I guess there's still some time left, but it's looking like the predictors of armageddon have been foiled again. Man, those people can't ever catch a break.
It's good news for me because I already paid for my plane ticket to the Cayman Islands in less than two weeks. I'd be really pissed if armageddon caused me to miss my vacation.
Apparently, my parents won a trip to the Cayman Islands a while back, so they told me I could go with them if I paid my airfare - but I don't have to pay to stay there because they won a seven-night stay in a three-bedroom condo. So it'll be me, my parents and two of their friends kickin' back in the Cayman Islands for a week.
I don't really know much about the Cayman Islands except that it's not in the Midwest, and technically is not part of the United States, so that's exciting enough for me. I'll be sure to post some pictures when I get back. I'll try to update my blog at least once again before I leave, but that's asking quite a lot.

I'm leaving on June 18 at like 6 a.m. from Omaha. The crappy part is I have to work the night before, so I'll drive to Omaha after work around 12:30 a.m., then get there around 3 and stay at the airport :(
So I might be extremely tired for the first day of vacation.

How long do you have to stay at the airport? Do you fly out that morning or later in the day? Are you meeting your parents in the Caymans? *sigh* such a lovely vacation. The best were getting is going to Chicago this weekend and to Minneapolis with Gene's parents in late July. Did you know MB is coming to DSM the weekend before you leave to visit? She's bringing her new guy Mike. Let us know just how lovely the Caymans really are so we can plot our jealous muder. :) j/k

That's too bad I won't be able to hook up with MB and her new special friend. I'll probably end up being at the airport for only about three hours, because my flight leaves at 6 a.m. I just hope I can manage to get enough sleep so that I'm not totally zapped for the rest of the trip. I can't pull all-nighters like in the good ol' days:)
