Creepy, Part II

A fellow 2003 Drake graduate is back in the news, and now the Des Moines Register seems to have picked up on the fact that he was, indeed, the student body president during the 2001-2002 school year.

First, some background on his previous charges: He had been forced to register as a sex offender for possession of child pornography in 2006. He also had a domestic assault conviction from 2005. And, the icing on the creepy cake: He's now been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 7-month-old baby.

It's truly unbelievable to me how far and how fast Matt Elliott has fallen. He clearly could've had a career in politics or even ran for public office – his Drake position seems to suggest that he was on that path. So what happened? Did he snap, did he start doing drugs, or was he always a big creep-o and no one noticed it? He always seemed normal to me, but maybe I'm not as good a judge of character as I thought I was.
